A Tour of the Byrd’s Nest at Christmas

It’s that time of year guys! Christmas lights everywhere, cocoa, cookies, and all around good cheer. I don’t know about you but my favorite holiday to decorate for is definitely Christmas, closely followed by Halloween.

I wanted to give you all a tour of my home at Christmas and share some of my most recent finds. I would love to hear what your favorite piece is in your home and see pictures! If you would like assistance in decorating your home for the holidays feel free to contact me using the form below. I would love to connect with you!

So let’s start the tour off with the front porch. This is the first year I’ve really gotten into decorating the front porch. Normally the hubby just puts up lights and we hang a wreath on the door, but this year we added some new pieces. My favorite of these, is the original sled from my grandmother’s childhood. I treated it with hemp oil to rejuvenate the wood and added a wooden distressed “Joy” sign along with a wooden welcome Snowman that I picked up at TJ Maxx. I’ve since added some inexpensive red jingle bells from Hobby Lobby to the sled – tieing all the reds together.

Once you enter through the front door you’ll find yourself in our living room. This is where our main Christmas tree is. I’ve also got a couple plush snowmen set up in here.

Just off the living is our dining room, where we set up the Dickens’ Village that my husband has had since he was a child. Each year he would get a new piece. This year we decided to use both the top and bottom levels of our buffet table to set it up and I could not be more pleased with how it turned out.

If you follow me on instagram @bluebyrddesignva you may have already seen my new tablescape. I decided to forgo the traditional red tablecloth since our walls are more of a blue gray with a darker blue accent color on the wall with the buffet. I opted for a navy tablecloth and beige runner with silver and gold accents. For the centerpiece I found a silver and gold reindeer with a gorgeous mercury Christmas tree, all at TJ Maxx. On our china cabinet I picked up some garland to add to the top, also from TJ, and added some votive candle holders and my chef nutcracker to finish it off.

Down the hall are three guest bedrooms, a guest bath and the master. Below are a couple of the decor items in two of the guest rooms.

Downstairs I’ve got a couple more welcome snowmen on the landing. In the entry way, I’ve got two large plush snowmen that my mom found at The Christmas Tree Shoppe for only $10/each! On our entryway table I found another small Christmas tree in an adorable red tin bucket to go with the knitted snowmen, which I’ve used to disguise the hubby’s weather reader.

I had the most fun with my husband’s mancave this year. I discovered a new addiction to reindeer and all things birch. I love their simplicity and the fact that you can keep them up all winter long. I added some buffalo plaid pieces to tie it all together, a tree skirt and runner, both of which I found at Hobby Lobby. I had leftover birch twigs from an arrangement last year that I saved. I decided to stick a few in one of the growlers downstairs.

  1. I love your living room and Christmas tree! It’s been four years since I last had a tree, my current boyfriend hates Christmas (how?!) and I don’t want to be the only one to enjoy it. It would probably also mean that I would have to get the tree myself and I don’t want to go through all that hasle haha.

    1. Thank you Johanne! I’m actually thinking of switching up the color scheme for next year 😂. I think if having a tree makes you happy you should have one even if it’s just a small Charlie Brown tree. It’s the little things.
